Landscape Architect

About You

The ideal candidate is a Landscape Architect with 4–10+ years of land development experience who can lead concept planning, planting design, and site design while coordinating grading, stormwater, and utilities. This cross-disciplinary professional blends landscape architecture and placemaking with functional site engineering, taking a lead role in planning, designing, and permitting related projects. They hold a bachelor’s or master’s in landscape architecture (civil engineering coursework a plus) and either licensure or the ability to obtain licensure within 12–18 months. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required, familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp/Enscape/Lumion, GIS, and Bluebeam. It’s preferred they possess knowledge of site grading, stormwater BMPs, erosion and sediment control, utility coordination, and applicable regulations (NPDES, MS4, floodplain). They must have excellent graphic communication, planting expertise, technical detailing, quantitative analysis, and the ability to balance aesthetics with constructability and budget.

About This Position

  • Assist discipline leadership with the planning, design and permitting of landscape architecture, civil engineering, land development and planning projects
  • Lead site analysis and conceptual design for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
  • Prepare illustrative site plans, master plans, and concept alternatives with clear narratives.
  • Develop planting designs and planting schedules appropriate to site context, climate, and maintenance goals.
  • Design outdoor spaces and site amenities (plazas, streetscapes, parks, trails, open space networks).
  • Prepare lighting layout concepts.
  • Produce construction details, material palettes, and technical specifications.
  • Prepare presentation graphics and visuals; support client/community meetings as needed.
  • Research and interpret zoning, subdivision/land development ordinances, and stormwater regulations. Identify required variances/waivers, draft justifications for PM review.
  • Prepare complete, consistent plan sets: grading, planting, lighting, drainage, erosion control, and details/notes sheets per company CAD standards.
  • Compile SWM/PCSM and E&S reports, appendices, and conservation district/DEP or equivalent agency submissions.
  • Establish overall grading strategies and prepare preliminary grading plans that balance cut/fill, context, and aesthetics with constructability.
  • Coordinate thoughtful utility layouts (water, sanitary, storm) to align with planting, grading, and site program; understand profiling and detailing. (Preferred but not required)
  • Perform earthwork quantity takeoffs and evaluate alternatives to reduce cost and permitting burden. (Preferred but not required).
  • Education: Bachelor’s or master’s in landscape architecture required; additional coursework or degree in Civil Engineering a plus.
  • Licensure/Certifications: LA or ability to obtain in 12–18 months preferred; EIT/PE, CPESC, CFM, or CBLP a plus.
  • Experience: 4–10+ years in land development with demonstrated concept planning, planting design, and site plan delivery; experience coordinating grading, stormwater, and utilities.

Note: While Landcore is a remote workforce, the nature of this position will require attendance at town meetings, project meetings and site visits; therefore candidates are required to be located within 1-2 hr drive +/- from Plymouth Meeting, PA.
